Hey everyone, today I wanted to make a simple but useful video for something that I see often in the gacha FNAF community: character design.
Gacha FNAF Character design is pretty complicated and depends on your preference, but there are a few common mistakes that can be fixed to make a design even better.
Gacha FNAF Character Design Body
1. Time period
One of the things I see in this community is people making characters that don’t match the time period of the time they lived in.
The FNAF timeline takes place during the 80s and 90s, so make your characters fit more into the time period and make them more accurate.
For example, look at these two examples of Michael Afton designs:
The one on the left
is a common beginner design mistake. People add modern day accessories like chains, hats, flower crowns, sweaters tied around the waist, and more, not because it’s accurate, but because it looks cooler. Unfortunately, the only thing it achieves is making the character look messy, unorganized, and unfitting.
The one on the right
uses bright colors but in an organized way, mixed in with more darker and duller colors. It makes the character stand out and matches pretty well to the bright color aesthetic of the 80s and 90s.
2. Neon colors
Another common mistake is using neon colors too much. Practically every character design tutorial tells you to not use neon colors at all, but just because a color is neon doesn’t mean you can’t use it anywhere.
The trick is to use neon colors carefully, such as in the eyes, hair gradient, or small details. This will make the design pop without looking too chaotic.
3. Originality
Another common mistake is making designs that look like blatant copies of each other. This is especially true for characters like Michael and William Afton.
There’s nothing wrong with taking some inspiration, but everyone is capable of making a unique design. Experiment with different hairstyles, color palettes, and clothes to find your own unique style.
4. Human characters and styles
There are two ways to make a human character: stick to the canon design as close as possible, or make your own unique design.
For example, we know that Michael has blue eyes and brown hair, and Elizabeth has ginger hair and green eyes. But for other characters, like Charlie and CC, we have more freedom to be original.
Personally, I like to do a bit of both. I’ll stick to the canon design when I can, but I’ll also add my own unique touches.
5. Age:
While we don’t have any canonical ages for the FNAF characters, it’s still better to make your characters be the age that they would most likely be during certain events.
For example, if Michael is a teenager in the 80s, around 12 to 16 years old, then William should at least be around 35 to 45 years old. He is a middle-aged man, and also a murderer, so he is not going to look like a hot 20-something twink.
I hope this Article Has given you some tips on how to make better Gacha FNAF character designs. Just remember to have fun and be creative during game.
